Shadow Mission
Wednesday, October 24, 2007
![]() With great revival comes great holiness. In the book of Acts there is awesome revival! Thousands saved, healed, delivered, people giving money to the Lord, lots of awesome things happening, and God is not letting anyone get away with their lies. Ananias both fell dead on the spot for lying to God about their giving. We read in Malachi 3:9 how God's people are under a curse because they are robbing him in tithes and offerings. God requires much of us. When he moves powerfully, there is a price to pay. He wants us to be fully devoted, mind body, soul, spirit, time, house, car, wallet. If you take a look at someone's bank statements, you can see who they worship, by the places where they put their money. Some of us need to get born-again in our wallet or purse too! John Ortberg preached at the Willow Creek Summit about how we need to confess and turn from our shadow mission, so we can get on with God's mission for our lives. He confessed that his shadow mission is "Man's approval" Once he had dealt with that and confessed it to his fellow leaders he could overcome it and move on with God! Here Ananias and Sapphira had a shadow mission of greed, and financial gain. God dealt with it severely, he demands holiness from us. The Bible says, "be perfect as our heavenly father is perfect." It's a high standard, but with the power of the Holy Spirit, "All things are possible for him who believes." Lord, I lay any shadow mission down at your feet, and ask you to empower me to overcome it, and walk in holiness before you. In Jesus name, Amen. Bradah Jit @ 11:46 AM |
